Who are these qualifications for?
The aim of the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor.
The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training aims to develop a learners existing knowledge and skills to a professional level, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding into gym instruction and pursue a career in personal training.
The Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral is designed to provide learners with an in depth understanding of the knowledge required to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for patients with a number of medical conditions, as well as common reasons for referral onto a community-based exercise referral scheme
The aim of the Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy is to provide learners with in-depth knowledge and skills to provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/post acute injuries or underlying pathological conditions
What do these qualifications cover?
These qualifications include all the required elements to work effectively as a gym instructor, personal trainer and sports massage therapist. The level 3 sports massage therapist will be able to work safely and effectively on dysfunctional tissue in a range of context, to include, pre-event, post event, intra-event and for maintenance purposes. Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise and fitness professionals
- Professional practice for exercise and fitness professionals
- Exercise, fitness and lifestyle consultation and management
- Planning and instructing gym-based exercise programmes
- Applied anatomy for exercise, fitness, health and wellbeing
- Designing and delivering personal training programmes
- Nutrition for exercise, fitness, health and wellbeing
- Business awareness and acuity for personal trainers
- Understanding of medical conditions and reasons for referral.
- Planning and delivering, safe and effective exercise programmes for individuals with specific medical conditions
- Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
- Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
- Professional practice in sports massage
- Sports massage treatments
What could these qualifications lead to?
On successful completion of this qualification you will be able to gain employment as an exercise referral instructor and will be eligible for registration onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 3.Learners can progress onto specialist level 4 instructor qualifications such as low back pain and obesity and diabetes.This qualification is fully endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
Learners who complete this qualification will be able to gain employment and obtain insurance to work as a sports massage therapist.
