This qualification is delivered via our 1-2-1 course method - Via this method you are given a dedicated tutor who you will meet up with on a 1-2-1 basis, either at our head office or an approved location of your choice (within 25 miles of our head office). You are entitled to 4 contact days which cover the practical elements of the qualification. These contact days are organised between yourself and your tutor on days and at times that are convenient for you both. All theory is completed remotely, using our dedicated student platform.

Qualification Overview
The primary outcome of the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of sports massage as a sports massage practitioner working with injured clients. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a sports massage practitioner.
Qualification Structure
In order to complete the Level 4 Certificate in Sports in Massage Therapy for Sports learners must achieve 19 credits from the 3 mandatory units below:
Conducting Subjective and Objective Assessment
Provide Sports Massage Techniques to Prevent and Manage Injury
Treatment Modalities to Support Soft Tissue RepairEntry Requirements
- The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
- There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and application of number involved, and learners should have basic skills in communication and application of number at levels 3 and 2 respectively.
Progression Routes & Employment Opportunities
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a sports massage practitioner working with injured clients. Learners who complete this qualification will be able to gain employment and obtain insurance to work as a sports massage practitioner. Employment opportunities exist in a variety of settings, including:
- Private health clubs and leisure centres
- Sports centres and clubs
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
This qualifications is different from the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy since it qualifies you to work with injured clients. The Level 3 qualification is more concerned with pre and post event massage on 'non-injured' tissue.
